Ernest Aguilar
Ernest received the Governor's Academic Excellence Award (2007), National Hispanic Honorable Mention (2008), UT Honors Colloquium and was on the First Honor Roll (2005 – 2007). He was also the founder of the Austin High Disc Golf Club (2008), active in other sports at Austin High that include Football (2005, 2007), Track (2005-2007) and Power Lifting (2005-2009) and was part of the Hispanic Leadership Society and Volunteer Club. Ernest plans to pursue a degree as a Doctor of Pharmacy.
William Calderon
William has received the Hispanic Academic Award, Outstanding Leadership in A.V.I.D., 3rd Place on National Spanish Exam and the Roosevelt Nivens Award. He was also active on the Austin High Football, Power Lifting and Track Teams. He is the first in his family to attend college. William plans to pursue a degree in Business from a four year university.
Kaelie Gonzales
Kaelie was an active member of the Hispanic Leadership Society, Select Member of the science and technology group, Project IT Girl and the Red Jackets High School Dance Team. In the community she was a part of the Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), Lift Student Ministry (Shoreline Christian Center) and volunteered with Austin Trail of Lights, Blue Santa and Shoreline House. She is the first in his family to attend college. Kaelie is attending the University of Texas, San Antonio and will pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Cory Healy
Cory has received awards for Outstanding Soloist (3 consecutive years at Solo & Ensemble), being a member of a finalist Jazz Ensemble participating in the prestigious Jazz at Lincoln Center's "Essentially Ellington Jazz Competition & Festival" in New York City, superior ratings for Austin High Jazz Ensemble and Austin High Honor Band in local and national competitions, and the National Hispanic Society Honorable Mention. He was also a member of the Austin High Marching Band for all four years and A.V.I.D. student and worked in the community as a volunteer for Blue Santa. He is the first in his family to attend college. Corey plans to pursue a degree in Music and Education/Literature.
Luis Herrera
Luis has received the Outstanding Leadership Award and Hardest Working A.V.I.D. Student Member. He was active with Austin High School Football and Boxing, Student Council, A.V.I.D. and the volunteer in the Academic Center. In the community, he worked with Jarred Kid Strong and Camp Coca Cola Leadership Camp. Luis plans to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice and become a member of the Austin Police Department.
John Kyser
John received the AISD Trustee's Scholar Award, National Merit Commended Student, Finalist in National Playwriting Competition, Best Actor (UIL District), All-Star Cast (UIL Region), National Shakespeare Competitor in NYC and Nine UIL Best Acting Awards. John graduates Austin High School in the Top 10% with a 4.08 GPA and plans to pursue a degree in Film.
Jovita Pardo
Jovita was an active member of the Austin High School Varsity Soccer team, a Student Council Cabinet member, the Latin Club (served as President), Spanish Club, AHS Choir group, National Honor Society, and the Peer Assistance and Leadership (PALs). She was active in the community with organizations such as Safe Place Walk, Relay for Life and the Humane Society. Jovita plans to pursue a career in Medicine.
Briyonna Lewis
Briyonna was member of JROTC (Squad Leader, Ranger Team, PT Team – 1st place in State, Orienteering Team), Key Club, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), National Junior Honor Society and Varsity Soccer (nominated MVP). She was active in the school and community with March of Dimes, Adopt-a-Kid, tutoring, Peer Mediator the Volunteer Club and joined the National Guard in February 2009. Briyonna plans to pursue a career as a nurse in the Air Force.
Marisela Rebollar
Marisela was active organizations both at Austin High and within the Austin Community. These groups and activities include the Hispanic Leadership Society, Link Crew, the Volunteer Club, AHS Cross-Country Team, Cristo Rey Catholic Church, Project IT Girl, Culinary Arts (FCCLA), and Trail of Lights, Coasts for Kids and Race for the Cure. Marisela plans to pursue a Biology degree for a career as a Predication Assistant.
Maricruz Trejo
Maricruz has been on the Honor Roll every six weeks from 2005-2009, Perfect Attendance Awards and A.V.I.D. Outstanding Leadership Award. He was also a member of the AHS Orchestra (violin player) and A.V.I.D. as well as volunteers in Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Maricruz plans to pursue a career in Medicine.
